Bonomo Turkish Taffy, Banana, set of 3

A solid bar of banana taffy still breaks into bite-sized pieces when cracked against the kitchen counter. We keep these bars on the sweet counter at Fox Valley Traders because the flavor has not changed since the Saturday matinee days. Slip a few bars into a coat pocket or tuck them into the desk drawer at work.

The classic crack

Smacking the wrapper flat against a hard table cracks the taffy into small chunks. It melts slowly once you start chewing, just like the bars folks remember from childhood summers.

Wrapped bars

Each bar comes sealed in its own yellow paper wrapper to keep the candy fresh in the pantry. They stack neatly in the cupboard until someone wants a sweet bite after supper.

Banana flavor

The recipe uses that distinct, mellow banana taste that has been a favorite for generations. It is firm enough to break apart cleanly but turns chewy as soon as it warms.

For the candy jar

Tuck the cracked pieces into the glass dish on the sideboard for visiting company. Grandkids who have only had soft chews get to try the candy their grandparents grew up with.
